Match the metric to the question.
Audience size, reach, participation, and activity are related, but they are not interchangeable. Professional community analysis begins by naming which one is being measured.
Time windows matter just as much. A fixed Monday–Sunday total is useful for historical comparison. Reddit describes weekly visitors as past-seven-day unique reach based on a 28-day rolling average. Oscylo displays these different constructions separately and labels the difference.

01Members
The displayed number of accounts that have joined a subreddit. It is a cumulative audience-size measure, not a count of people who visited or participated recently.
Use absolute and percentage change together. Never treat member count alone as active engagement.
02Weekly visitors
The platform-displayed estimate of unique users who visited in the past seven days, based on a 28-day rolling average. Reddit states that it excludes bots and visitors using anonymous browsing mode in its native apps.
Use it as a smoothed current-reach signal. Adjacent observations share most of the same underlying period, so do not add them together or treat each date as a separate weekly cohort.
03Contributions
Public posts plus comments during a defined period. Oscylo labels fixed calendar weeks separately from platform-displayed rolling weekly contributions.
Compare with the same community’s historical range and check posts and comments separately when format changes matter.
04Unique contributors
Distinct public accounts that posted or commented during a period. It measures participation breadth rather than total audience reach.
Read it beside contributions. Rising volume with flat breadth means the existing contributor base is producing more activity.
05Contributions per contributor
Total contributions divided by unique contributors for the same window. It is an activity-intensity measure, not a quality score.
Compare within similar community formats. A discussion forum and a link-sharing community naturally produce different levels.
06Contribution concentration
The share of visible activity produced by a defined top segment of contributors, such as the top 1% or 10%.
Track the measure through time. A rising share can show that headline activity is depending on fewer contributors.
07Trend and baseline
A repeated direction of change measured against prior periods, seasonal patterns, or a rolling historical range—not a single week-over-week percentage.
Require several aligned observations and record known events or methodology changes before calling the movement durable.

- Compare the latest value with the community’s own historical distribution.
- Read audience, volume, and contributor breadth together.
